Accordion Shutters are the easiest way to protect your home in the shortest amount of time. This type of protection is permanently mounted to the building. Each accordion shutter is custom built to fit the opening which minimizes waste and ensures that the overall look of the home is not impacted visually. The Bertha High-Velocity Accordion Shutter is one of the best accordion shutter systems. It is unique in the fact that it does not require additional fastening on the sides. The older design of accordion shutters meant that the blades had to be mounted to a separate side angle on the left and right of the shutter. That same side angle also has to be mounted to the structure. This means more holes being drilled into your home and may allow water to infiltrate over time which can lead to mold and mildew problems. On the Bertha High-Velocity Accordion Shutter, the blades are interlocked to a structural starter which mounts directly into the header and sill of each shutter. This also helps to provide a cleaner overall look to the shutter. Most accordion systems are mounted on stucco which is not a smooth surface and therefore the side angles on the older style of accordion shutters will tend to bend or wave, leaving for a less desirable appearance. The Bertha High-Velocity also uses a 5-POINT LOCKING SYSTEM which consists of a stainless steel, push-button lock and 4 heavy-duty aluminum locking pins. This provides a rigid center that eliminates noise and in the event the lock fails, the locking pins ensure the shutter will not fly open during a hurricane
